Welcome to Steep La

970 N Broadway #112, Los Angeles, CA 90012, United States

General Info

Tucked away at Steep LA, this tea house offers a refreshing take on what a modern dining experience can feel like in Los Angeles. From the moment you step inside, the space feels calm yet inviting, with a strong focus on tea culture that sets it apart from the usual restaurant scene in the area.

The menu leans creative but stays approachable. One standout I kept coming back to is the Soymilk Cold Noodle. It’s light, smooth, and surprisingly satisfying, especially if you’re looking for something that doesn’t feel heavy. Then there’s the Mango Pomelo Sago Cheesecake, which delivers a balance of creamy texture and bright fruit flavors-it’s the kind of dessert that feels indulgent without going overboard.

What really defines the experience here, though, is the tea. The Tea Spirit Flight is a must-try if you’re curious about different profiles and aromas. It turns a simple drink into something interactive and memorable. If tea isn’t your thing, their fresh juice options are equally refreshing and pair nicely with the rest of the menu.

Beyond the food and drinks, the atmosphere and services make a strong impression. The space identifies as Asian-owned, and that influence is felt not only in the flavors but also in the thoughtful presentation and hospitality. It’s also a transgender safespace, which adds to the welcoming and inclusive vibe. Wheelchair accessible seating ensures that the space is easy to navigate, and the paid parking lot nearby makes visiting more convenient, especially in a busy part of Los Angeles.

From a diner’s perspective, reviews often highlight how consistent the quality is, both in the kitchen and in the service. The staff is attentive without being overbearing, which makes it easy to relax and enjoy your time, whether you’re catching up with friends or just spending a quiet afternoon with tea.

Overall, Steep LA feels less like a typical restaurant and more like a thoughtfully curated experience. Between the carefully designed menu, the focus on tea, and the inclusive environment, it’s a place that leaves a lasting impression long after you’ve finished your last sip.

What customers say?

“ Steep LA is more than just a restaurant, tea shop, or bar — it’s a movement aimed at revitalizing the cultural and social fabric of LA’s Chinatown. I’ve visited many times for different events, from guest bartender takeovers to the summer night market, and each time it has fostered a real sense of community while bridging connections across Asian culture. The owners themselves are welcoming and approachable, often serving cocktails and food during events. That personal touch, combined with genuine hospitality, makes the space feel warm and inviting. The food menu highlights classic Taiwanese and Chinese entrees, and after 5 p.m., the focus expands to cocktails. The cocktail list is especially creative, featuring a range of tea-based drinks that draw on diverse tea varieties to create something distinctive and memorable. ”

“ Excellent vibes, very nice patio space. Chewy tofu was FANTASTIC, the green tea rice was good. The drink was a little on the bitter side for me , would ask for a recommendation next time. Juni tea was good! Sweeter at the bottom Friday night in August had live jazz right next door in the courtyard!! ”

“ Steep is a great modern tea house in the heart of Chinatown. During the day, they have yummy rice and noodle bowls, Chinese inspired appetizers, and a really lovely selection of freshly brewed tea. I love the chicken rice here. I especially love coming in the evening for their Steep After Dark menu, where they have a selection of tea forward cocktails, as well as a selection of bar bites. A must order for me is the furikake popcorn and the oolong cream soda (non-alcoholic). The bar menu changes a bit seasonally as well, so there’s always something new to try. Steep also does a really good job of supporting other Asian American small businesses in the area. They frequently host markets and events in their courtyard and feature many of them in their retail/main menu offerings. ”

“ Excellent tea and lite bites. Great spot for a bit of work too but be advised they switch vibes for the dinner crowd (also worth going to but just FYI if you plan on working from here) 4 stars cus there was an unexpected bone in my Hainan chicken (Chicken and rice on menu). Only happened once since visiting about 5-7 times. Still would recommend the chicken and rice but just eat it slowly ”

“ Came here for a mixer held for lawyers, judges and law students, and we had a wonderful time. The food is delicious, the ambience is pleasant and the drinks are amazing. Let's talk about the staff. They are absolutely wonderful. They aren't putting on that fake customer service game face, these people are easy going and give great service. Thank you so much for such a wonderful time. Also, they serve tea and teach about the meaning of tea ceremonies and that is absolutely beautiful. Learning a different culture in a lovely and comfortable environment. If you are nearby, stop in. ”

“ Lovely place for friends gathering. They don’t have many food options. It’s more like a drink place than a restaurant. But the atmosphere is nice. Easy to talk. ”

“ Absolutely delicious tea and food for the price, even if you don't do the tea ceremony option we were impressed with the single cup teas (large serving and steeped well). The staff was really great and kindly explained everything. ”

“ Steep LA is a fantastic cocktail bar that offers a unique and delightful experience. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a night out with friends or a date. One of the standout drinks on their menu is the ube cocktail. It's a pastel purple drink made with ube, which gives it a rich, creamy texture and a slightly sweet, nutty flavor. It's both visually stunning and delicious, definitely a must-try! Another great option is their pineapple cake daiquiri. It's a classic cocktail that's perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness and tartness. The bartenders at Steep LA really know their craft, and it shows in the quality of their drinks. Whether you're a cocktail connoisseur or just looking to try something new, Steep LA won't disappoint. ”
